Hamish Taylor
Senior Associate Solicitor

Hamish is committed to making business deals happen, not to get in the way. His approach is to keep the easy, easy and to make the complex, simple.

Hamish is a Senior Associate Solicitor specialising in Business, Corporate and Property Law. He is key member of our Business & Company Law team and acts as Virtual In-House Counsel for a number of established and growing SME’s.

About Hamish

He has over 15 years’ experience in business and corporate advisory, dealing with complex commercial and property transactions in Australia and New Zealand acting for entrepreneurs, SME’s and large corporations including McDonalds and Vodafone.

Before moving to Australia, Hamish worked for over 10 years for a specialist Commercial Law firm in Auckland where his practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, restructures, joint ventures and sales of businesses.

Hamish has experience working across complex projects that require both commercial and property law. For example during a one-year stint with one of Ireland’s largest law firms he spent time working on what was the largest European mall development of the time. He has also been involved in negotiations with the New Zealand Government regarding Treaty of Waitangi claims and the significant re-acquisition of Crown assets including land, forestry and commercial buildings.

He has bought, sold and re-structured businesses in many sectors (hospitality, mining, cinema, waste management and insurance to name a few) including the not-for-profit space with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust.

Hamish also has practical business experience having operated multiple foreign businesses for approximately 6 years before moving to Australia so he knows what it is like to be a business owner.

A great team that has supported our business.

Hamish was very professional and always had my best interests at heart.

I engaged Hamish Taylor in the Newcastle office to assist me in the sale of my share of a business. I am very happy with how he managed the process and would have no hesitation in recommending his services.

David Van Eldik

Highly recommended.

I needed a franchise agreement translated into layman’s terms for me and they put me straight onto Hamish who sent me an accurate and legible report highlighting risks, costs and notable points. The price was made clear at the start, no hidden costs and it was all very professional and easy.

Hamish, I appreciate your help and support. You have done a great deal for me. Thank you for your service and kind cooperation.

He explained all the jargon and made sure that I was covered in any ‘worst case scenario’.

“I had to get some Terms and Conditions drafted for my new business and was very pleased with the results. Hamish was able to work with me to integrate all of my terms into what is a rather complicated legal document. I definitely recommend them and would happily do business with them again.”

Michael Trent

Highly recommend the Roberts Crosbie Mortensen Lawyers Team.

“They are so professional and complete the work in a timely manner.”

I hold complete confidence with this firm.

“As somebody who had never engaged with a Solicitor before, I was lucky enough to have Hamish Taylor and Amanda Crosbie assist with the execution of two commercial leases. The process was seamless, with regular and prompt communication, all whilst being friendly and approachable at the same time. I would not hesitate to contact them for any future legal needs.”

Lauren Aspinall

Couldn’t be happier.

“We are a small start up business that found Roberts Crosbie Mortensen Lawyers through Google. We feel very lucky to have Hamish look after us as he has been extremely helpful. We are new to business and having been in small business himself he understands what we need. The fees are very reasonable also.”

James Kilby

Would highly recommend.
